Philip Walford

Philip advises on all major taxes including corporation tax, income tax, capital gains and VAT, as well as some more specialist taxes such as petroleum revenue tax. Particular areas have included structured finance and repo transactions, double taxation, life assurance taxation, tax arbitrage, oil and gas, and inheritance tax. Philip’s work ranges from high-value cases involving hundreds of millions of pounds to small matters where some principle is at stake. He appears at all levels in the courts, from the First-tier Tribunal to the Supreme Court.

Philip is a member of the Revenue Bar Association and a scholar of Lincoln’s Inn. Prior to being called to the Bar, Philip spent a year as an analyst in the corporate finance division of UBS Warburg.

Philip was educated at Westminster School, London, and Merton College, Oxford, where he read mathematics and was awarded a postmastership (scholarship), and also City University, London. MMath (Oxon); Dip Law (City).
