Chambers is not a legal entity, nor is it a firm or a partnership.  Instead, the Members of Chambers are a collection of self-employed individuals.  Members of Chambers are in independent practice at the Bar of England and Wales and each is registered with the Bar Standards Board of England and Wales

All barristers at 11 New Square provide legal services subject to the Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Authorised Persons 2012 (“the Standard Contractual Terms”).  The Standard Contractual Terms apply (mutatis mutandis) to instructions from all persons as if they were “Authorised Persons” as defined by those terms (click here to read the Standard Contractual Terms in full).

Professional Indemnity Insurance

All Members of Chambers maintain, as a minimum, professional liability insurance provided by the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund, managed by the Bar Mutual Management Company, 90 Fenchurch Street, London, EC3M 4ST.  Coverage is subject to the terms of cover of the Bar Mutual.

Legal advice

Members of Chambers, as individual lawyers, may only give advice to a particular person on a specific matter or case if instructed to do so by one of the following: a solicitor, a qualified foreign lawyer or a member of a recognised professional body approved by the Bar Council for the purpose of licensed access.

Client care and complaints policy

All Members of Chambers are committed to providing an exceptionally high standard of service and welcome any feedback from solicitors and lay clients.  Complaints are taken very seriously and will be dealt with in accordance with Chambers’ written complaints policy, which is available from the Clerks, on request.
